If you've arrived at HUNKER + HYGGE you've probably heard of Hygge (pronounced hooga), the Danish brand of cosiness that we all long for in our lives.
The principles of hygge are so relevant to us in these trying times and so HUNKER + HYGGE was born to share a little of hygge love with the world. We are a family of hygge lovers and since we re-discovered the simple pleasures in life, we decided wanted to share a little of what we’ve learnt about hygge along the way.
The HUNKER + HYGGE recipe for hygge is a simple one, take one cosy home, the warm glow of candles or a fire, add some soft blankets and cushions and a mug of something hot and settle into a good book, a board game or perhaps a favourite film.
You can go on to enhance your hygge day by getting a casserole on in the kitchen, some freshly baked pastries or bread and settle down to a relaxing candlelit dinner, sheltered from the cold, dark and inhospitable outside world this winter.

Whilst we’ve provided you with some shopping links, the hygge concept is about as anti-consumerism as you can get. Hygge is all about taking yourself away from the world for an afternoon or a day, putting away your technology and enjoying the simple things in life. The shopping links should provide you with some inspiration, but don't feel compelled to buy the perfect hygge, you probably have most of the ingredients already.
